WHAT'S THE JOB?

Reporting to the District Manager (or Regional Operations Director), the Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for overseeing portfolios for a specific region to ensure safety, high quality service, efficiency and financial performance and execute the strategic vision of the Senior Leadership Team. Operations Managers foster long-term relationships by delivering operational excellence to meet client and customer needs.

The OM will provide multi-level support to operations by assisting the District Manager with functional activities such as invoicing, purchasing, and supervising operations and assisting the front-line managers with hiring, recruitment, onboarding, auditing, and problem solving. The operations coordinator is a field-based position that works on a rotational basis and maintains a front facing, account level presence across all Horizon North sites in Northwestern Ontario.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Lodge Managers, Chefs, and other front-line supervisors with innovative problem solving, troubleshooting, and project optimization.
  • Conflict resolution
  • Mentor and train all direct reports.
  • With support of the Regional Operations Director and District Manager, develop, plan and budget to meet financial targets for the accounts and the division.
  • Plan, oversee and operationalize the regional business plan.
  • Facilitate, manage, and build client relationships.
  • Strengthen and develop operational processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Liaise with Regional Operations Director, District Manager and other OM's and ensure the consistent implementation of strategic initiatives to all field operation groups.
  • Provide leadership of the field operations team ensuring effective performance management and continued development.
  • Support the implementation of operational improvements in the areas of safety, quality, customer service, finance, and employee performance.
  • Communicate and share company standards and available resources that assist facility operations.
  • Responding to emergency service call outs as required.
  • Coordinate with other department leaders to find solutions to problems.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights, health and safety within all operations.
  • Support the sales team to identify and pursue new business opportunities in key markets.
  • Assist in effectively and efficiently managing the development of the Hospitality Operations team to promote high quality customer service and satisfaction.
  • Other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment and telecommuting with a flexible work schedule, potentially requiring additional working hours as needed, to ensure business needs are continually met.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to meet business needs; ~70% of work to occur in the field.
  • Possible 14/14 or 20/10 rotational schedule.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Operations OR Hospitality or Culinary Management experience.
  • Post-Secondary Education in Hospitality, Culinary, Management or Business-related degree is considered an asset.
  • Familiar with current remote Camp and Catering standard.
  • Proven leadership, motivational and people management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and retain employees.
  • Demonstrated financial management skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with Netsuite or other cloud accounting software.
  • G Class Licensed Driver with clean abstract.

Competencies:

  • Experience in multi-unit management, hospitality industry or hotel industry considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to excel in a fast paced, highly challenging and change oriented environment.
  • Superior critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
