JOB DESCRIPTION
The HR/LR Business Partner, with a focus on labour relations, enables the organization to be a world class developer of people through the effective implementation of HR policies, procedures and programs for a specific business unit or group within the organization. They will also be responsible for a broad scope of labour relations issues across the larger organization. They are accountable for administering the terms of the collective agreement, counselling people leaders to ensure effective outcomes, collaborating with Union representatives to address workplace issues jointly, investigating complex workplace issues, and coaching our workforce.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the terms of our Collective Agreements and advise, coach, and counsel our people leaders to ensure effective outcomes under the terms of the Collective Agreement.
  • Work with our union representatives to address workplace issues and jointly pursue new opportunities to develop and coach our workforce.
  • Collaborate and manage the grievance process and resolve issues to enhance our workplace culture; Participate in arbitrations and other dispute resolution processes or statutory processes.
  • Independently conduct complex workplace investigations and mediations ensuring that proper documentation and reporting are occurring.
  • Provide labour relations, collective agreement and other training and coaching to all workplace parties to maintain a harmonious work environment.
  • Collaborate on labour relations initiatives, project work and collective bargaining.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to employees and managers in a broad range of HR functions by building deep client understanding and relationships to help coach, mentor, and develop others on HR and LR issues.
  • Support full employee life cycle; advising employees at various stages of employment from recruitment and onboarding to departure. Single point of contact for HR needs.
  • In partnership with HR subject matter experts and COEs, ensure the tactical delivery of HR programs so that the organization has best in class talent in the right places and doing the right things to achieve business objectives (this may include involvement in Talent Acquisition, Succession Planning, Workforce Planning, Compensation Reviews, training & development, etc.).
  • Prepare and deliver employee communications, presentations and correspondence.
  • Implement a wide variety of Human Resource projects and initiatives and ensure alignment throughout our business.
  • Understand our HR systems ensuring they are optimized. Compile and complete HR Reporting and data analysis; using the HR data to inform business strategies and ensure the achievement of objectives.
  • Participate in process and policy improvement projects that realize efficiencies and improve employee and internal client experience. Ensure client groups follow established processes and procedures to achieve efficient and fair outcomes and mitigate risk to the business.
  • Facilitate a Safe and Respectful workplace by providing training and coaching to leaders and employees, conduct workplace investigations, determining fair and equitable outcomes and recommending prevention plans to address systemic or individual issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • CPHR Designation or ability to achieve a CPHR designation is an asset.
  • 5-8 years of experience in Labour Relations and/or Human Resources.
  • 2 years' experience managing the terms of a collective agreement while working with union representatives
  • Experience working in a variety of HR functional areas including demonstrated experience leading several of the following functions within a designated business unit: Employee Engagement Activities, Talent Management & Succession Planning; Recruitment & Selection, Labour & Employee Relations, Performance Management, and Total Rewards including Compensation Strategy & Recognition Programs.
