JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Agriculture Manager, the successful incumbent will be a results-driven, self-starter who is always looking for opportunities for improvement, and can adapt to a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will join a team of raw product professionals dedicated to providing the best possible raw to our Lethbridge potato processing facility.
  • Maintain and grow strong relationships with our grower suppliers.
  • Visit grower fields and storages as necessary driving company crop knowledge.
  • Work closely with the Agriculture Manager and Raw Product Supervisor to assess grower quality, potato requirements and organize potato deliveries.
  • Participate in learning opportunities to enhance your potato extension skills, providing the best possible advice to our contract grower.
  • Provide timely data on potato quality to Cavendish Farms Management team, be proficient with data management systems.
  • Work closely with Production staff to determine their needs and balance with potato quality.
  • Report food safety and quality issues to the Agriculture Manager and Raw Product Supervisor.
  • Assist with the supervision 6 hourly raw receiving and potato grading staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture or Technical Diploma in Agriculture.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience would be beneficial.
  • Exposure to a food operating plant environment would be an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and build teams.
  • A proven track record of being pro-active and taking initiative.
  • CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) or Professional Agrologist certification; or demonstrated eligibility for certification.
  • Ability to stand/walk in potato fields and potato storages.
  • Ability to squat, bend, kneel, reach
  • Occasional lifting up to 50lb/ 34kg
  • Occasional carrying up to 50lb/34kg
