JOB DESCRIPTION
QC Inspector, Paint is responsible for inspecting all blast and paint operations on new construction, including the scope of work completed by on-site sub-contractors. This position is responsible for ensuring ISI conducts all blasting and painting operations in accordance with contract requirements and specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete in-process and final visual inspections of all blasting and coating operations to ensure compliance on surface preparation and coating as per standard
  • Perform testing on surface profile, salt content, coating thickness, adhesion
  • Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and serviceable.
  • Ensure materials are stored and handled according to manufacturer's requirements.
  • Generate and maintain quality records in support of the inspection and test plan
  • Read and interpret production drawings and specifications to identify quality requirements
  • Document non-conformances in the NCR database and complete root cause analysis
  • Provide recommendations for protective coatings and corrosion control methods.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge - education, certificates, licenses, registration, and knowledge required
    • At least 5 years of experience in industrial coating application.
    • Preferred candidates must have AMPP Certified Coating Inspector certification, or equivalent (e.g., NACE -CIP or SSPC PCI).
    • Completion of some College / CEGEP / Vocational or Technical Training
    • Understand all aspects of marine surface preparation and coating application, including applying protective coatings including using spray equipment.
  • Technical Skills - required skills to apply knowledge
    • An understanding of different types of coatings, surface preparation methods, spray paint methods, standards and safety protocols. Must have Naval coating experience.
    • Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings
    • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, SharePoint, and ERP systems
    • Knowledge of airless spray guns, spray equipment, and other surface preparation and coating tools. Full understanding and able to perform destructive and nondestructive testing.
    • Attention to details is required, ability to perform precise measurements and visual inspections.
  • Social Process Skills - required skills for effective working relationships
    • Strong communication skills to interact with applicators, trades employees, and coworkers.
    • Strong relationship management skills and ability to deal with conflict
