JOB DESCRIPTION
Intermediate Procurement Specialists will be responsible for progressing life-cycle procurement activities of material packages - which may include complex systems or materials - for the Artic and Offshore Patrol (AOPS) program. Ownership of procurement lifecycle includes the following key activities, driving towards contract awards: analysis and research to support the development of comprehensive sourcing strategies; active and daily communication/ coordination of various internal stakeholders to ensure incremental progress and schedule adherence (project management); regular supplier engagement and management; executing and maintaining delivery timelines in accordance with time fence rules; preparation of briefing papers or executive summaries with commercial recommendations; drafting of negotiation strategies; major participation (and, for less complex packages, leading) in-person supplier negotiations and performance reviews; creating and executing contract amendments. Intermediate Procurement Specialists will work alongside their peers to knowledge share and assist collaboratively across the team to meet periods of peak demand and achieve critical deadlines. Intermediate Procurement Specialists will adhere to and support business and system processes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and improve supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance
  • Issue Purchase Orders for material
  • Provide advice on contractual claims
  • Execute contracts and amendments
  • Execution of negotiated contract through Irving Shipbuilding's ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) & MRP (Material Resource Planning) systems.
  • Lead Supplier performance reviews
  • Analyze market conditions (ex: pricing, availability, lead-time and capacity)
  • Support new product introduction activities
  • Apply the principles of continuous improvement to the design and development of supply chain processes.
  • Undertake cost analysis for direct material and services

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 3 years of supply chain procurement experience in Aerospace, Shipbuilding/Shipping/Shipyard, Automotive, Construction, Heavy Manufacturing or the Defence industry
  • Previous exposure to market analytics and insights
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
