J.D. Irving, Limited is currently seeking for a motived individual for the position of Industrial Programmer at the Veneer Sawmill. Local applicants or candidates open to relocation are encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Description:
The Position requires a candidate with a degree in either Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technologist, or equivalent experience to work at our hardwood mill in Northern New Brunswick. Membership of professional society is considered an asset. This is an on-site day position, with the option to work after hours and weekends to support the site. The position will require a candidate who can effectively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve control issues. The candidate will be a member of the maintenance staff to maintain, repair and improve processes within the facility.
The sawmill contains state-of-the-art control equipment, including AI (artificial intelligence) enabled scanners, Logix5000 controllers, and robotization. As such, the candidate must have experience with these systems, or similar systems, to be able to diagnose and resolve problems.
The candidate is responsible for planning, prioritizing, and meeting tight deadlines and an ability to multitask. The candidate must be a good team player and bilingual is an asset. He will report to the Maintenance Superintendent.

  • Ability to participate in or lead small on-site improvement projects, and work with the Division's Business Improvement Manager on automation projects.
  • Ability to manage a Ghantt diagram and budget for small improvement projects.
  • Responsible for identifying and managing obsolescence projects.
