JOB DESCRIPTION
The Raw Procurement Assistant Manager is responsible to assist all aspects of the raw procurement (potato) and delivery processes for Cavendish Farms facility. Ensure processes support consistent supply of highest quality raw materials to satisfy customer requirements in an environmentally and economically sustainable manner.
This position reports to the Raw Procurement Manager. The position requires interaction with Alberta potato growers, production staff, four direct reports, Potato Growers of Alberta, both provincial and federal agriculture services, growers and grower organizations outside the province of Alberta, private agronomists, agriculture chemical sales staff, as well as international and domestic sales personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage grower contracts and visits to monitor raw quality and volume (1 Day per week)
  • Identify and execute opportunities for operational cost savings through better value raw material. Monitor raw delivery wait times to improve efficiency both for growers and the plant.
  • Provide grower feedback regarding quality and areas for improvement.
  • Strategy and Planning: Together with plant leadership team, develop short and midterm site strategies and execution plans to satisfy demand.
  • Monitor raw based on the Company's contracts and quality needs, Review the grower's database to ensure accuracy of contracts, payment prices and deductions.
  • Act as liaison between the Company and the Grower's organization.
  • Assist in negotiating processing contracts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong general potato knowledge.
  • Ability to network with other growing areas.
  • Degree or Diploma in an agriculture or Horticulture or related experience.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with others.
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Outlook
