Position Summary:
Reporting to the Health & Safety Specialist, the Health and Safety Student will work within a team that is accountable for the implementation and monitoring of processes and practices to achieve a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Partner with the Plant Health & Safety Specialst and Operations Management to conduct several ergonomic assessments for several roles within the facility.
- Conduct Job Hazard Analyses for prescribed positions and suggest opportunities to eliminate ergonomic risks
- Monitor and assist in the delivery or coordination of health & safety training requirements for the facility;
- Develop and/or update safe work instructions, OPLs, job aids, etc.
- Update health and safety training matrix for all employees
- Conduct ergonomic audits to ensure safe plant operations, facilitating corrective actions with Health & Safety Specialistas necessary
- Collect and analyze statistical data pertaining to the plant's Ergonomic program;
- Prepare reports to support various health and safety initiatives;
- Participate in Company health & safety initiatives (such as strategic meetings, conference calls, audits, special projects, etc.) to ensure site representation, inclusion, and consistency.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Diploma/ Degree program in Occupational Health & Safety or Kinesiology or Ergonomics
- Working/Classroom experience with Ergonomic tools including, but not limited to, SNOOK tables, NIOSH Lifting Equations, REBA, RULA etc.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate across many functions
- Access to a vehicle is necessary as travel between plants in the Greater Toronto Area is likely.
