Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for an individual wanting to join our Finance team. Are you ready to be our Summer Student - Finance & Rental Operations and make an impact in our community?
ABOUT THE ROLEReporting to the Manager, Finance, the Summer Student - Finance and Retail Operations is a key member of the Finance team, whose scope of responsibilities includes involvement in various aspects of Bissell's full cycle accounting processes and overseeing the daily operations of the Moonlight Bay Centre rental camp. The role includes managing bookings, assisting with camp maintenance, handling customer inquiries, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. This would be a great opportunity for a student to get practical experience with full cycle accounting and experience in rental operations.
This position will be funded by the Venture for Canada Student Internship program. To qualify for this grant applicants must be either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee. They must also be enrolled full-time in an accredited Canadian college or university.
WHAT IS THE ROLE Duties and ResponsibilitiesFinance Responsibilities
- Assist the Finance team with accounts receivable, accounts payable and monthly financial statement preparation tasks.
- Participate in the creation of a Financial Literacy program for the front-line managers.
- Work with the Finance team to assess and develop strategies to improve camp profitability.
- Identify areas of opportunity for cost control or efficiency.
- Identify any automation software or technology that can increase the productivity of the team.
Moonlight Bay Centre Responsibilities
- Assist with booking management
- Responsible for on-site guest's check-in and check-out.
- Coordinate with third party vendors for maintenance and janitorial requirements of the camp.
- Provide timely customer support to ensure a positive camp experience.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and assist with management of emergency situations when needed.
- Coordinate with Bissell Centre's Indigenous Engagement team and other internal Bissell teams to host community development programming and activities.
- Other duties as required to support the smooth operation of the camp.

Formal Education and Experience
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee.
- Enrolled full-time in an accredited Canadian college or university.
- Actively working towards a diploma or degree in Accounting, Business or a related field.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with camp guests and staff professionally.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- An understanding of rental camp operations is an asset but not required.
- Previous customer service experience is an asset but not required.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
This position will work a standard 40-hour work week. This will include hours on-site for Moonlight Bay Centre guest check-in and check-out.
Ability to use personal vehicle for work related purposes. Mileage will be paid out for work-related use.
Flexibility of the working week is inherent in this position as the workload fluctuates. Flexibility to work a combination of weekdays and weekends is required. Hybrid work model can be discussed.
