Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager of The Family Birthing Centre, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing evidenced based, comprehensive, safe, effective and ethical nursing care to all clients in the labour and delivery and postpartum units of the hospital.
Responsibilities
Graduate of an accredited college university nursing program
Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
Mandatory Qualifications
Current (2 years) experience in labour/ birthing or recovery
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider Certificate
Fetal Health Surveillance in Labour certificate
Perinatal Certificate
Breastfeeding Certificate or Board Certified Lactation Consultant
Able to perform venipuncture and I.V. starts
Mandatory Competencies
Excellent patient assessment skills
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a team focus
Self directed individual with the ability to work both independently and within an inter professional team
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professionalism in nursing
Creative problem solver with a customer focus and patient friendly approach
Proven critical thinking skills; Ability to multi task and set priorities in a rapidly changing environment
Well developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Ability to be a coach, teacher and mentor to colleagues and students
Ability to establish work relationships with external partners
Mature, reliable individual with excellent attendance record
Preferred
High Risk Obstetrical Certificate
Advances in Labour and Risk Management (ALARM) certificate
