We are looking for a seasoned leader to serve as the Canada region's Energy & Utilities Consulting Director. This individual will lead our team of experts in delivering technical, economic, and strategic solutions that support our clients' energy transition initiatives. This role requires strong business acumen and a passion for people leadership, innovation, and driving results.
What You'll Do
As the Energy & Utilities Consulting Director, you will provide managerial direction, strategic oversight, and technical leadership for our consulting team in Canada. This includes developing and executing a regional business strategy, leading high-performance teams, and promoting the values and mission of Burns & McDonnell and 1898 & Co.
Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute strategic business plans aligned with corporate goals.

Identify, develop, and implement business strategies, including operational, marketing, pricing, and client retention strategies.

Lead the department to meet targets for sales, revenue, and profitability.
Team Management

Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to a multidisciplinary consulting team.

Assign work, manage staffing levels, and oversee performance evaluations.

Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
Client & Business Development

Drive business development efforts in the Canada region.

Collaborate with business development managers and project teams to secure new opportunities.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients in the utility and energy sectors.
Operational & Technical Excellence

Manage department budgets and control expenditures.

Present monthly financial reports to regional and practice leadership.

Enforce quality control standards and compliance with company policies.

Support implementation of company initiatives and change management efforts.
Technical Expertise

Provide expert consulting and technical guidance across various services, including generation, transmission, and distribution planning.

Support engineering, economic, and power system studies.

Champion innovation and strategic thinking within technical project work.
Additional Information

This position is based in Canada and requires regional travel as necessary.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field from an accredited program and 13 years of relevant experience.

Excellent business acumen with proven success managing consulting engagements.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly and efficiently interpret large data sets.

Ability to uncover customer needs, develop recommendations and deliver them persuasively.

Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Strong understanding of financial concepts.

Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
