We are seeking an experienced Sr. Structural Engineer to join the team of our exclusive client, a leader in Engineering. This hybrid role offers a balance of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility, while providing the opportunity to work on highways and bridges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage structural design for highway bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and other transportation infrastructure projects from design through to completion.
- Perform structural analysis, load rating, and rehabilitation strategies for bridges and highway structures, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct seismic analysis, fatigue assessments, and lifecycle evaluations to ensure long-term structural integrity.
- Demonstrate expertise in S6 (Canadian Highway Bridge Code), NBC, AASHTO, AREMA, CISC, and Wood Manual for designing concrete, steel, and wood structures.
- Oversee site inspections, structural assessments, and contract administration during the construction phase.
- Review and approve contractor shop drawings, technical reports, and specifications.
- Coordinate with municipal, provincial, and federal agencies to ensure compliance with highway and bridge standards.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver quality results within project timelines and budgets.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, drafters, and other technical staff.
- Drive innovation in bridge rehabilitation, expansion, and new construction.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:
- P.Eng. in Ontario.
- 15+ years of overall structural engineering experience, with 10+ years focused specifically on highways and bridges.
- Expertise in concrete, steel, and wood structure design for transportation infrastructure.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microstation, and advanced structural analysis software.
- Strong knowledge of materials, fatigue, and dynamic loading in bridge design.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver's License.
- Strong understanding of provincial and national highway design standards.
