The Opportunity:
A growing engineering consulting firm based in Peterborough, Ontario is looking for a Structural (Bridge) Project Engineer to join its Structural Department. What You'll Be Doing:
- Manage bridge and structural engineering projects from planning through completion.
- Conduct preliminary and detailed design work, including structural calculations and technical specifications.
- Identify and resolve complex engineering challenges while meeting client and regulatory expectations.
- Perform site investigations and feasibility studies.
- Develop project estimates, schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
- Prepare technical reports and contract documents.
- Communicate with clients, consultants, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
- Monitor and manage project budgets and timelines.
- Oversee and review the work of junior staff to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Stamp and sign drawings and reports, where required.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural/bridge engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, or nearing licensure.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in structural engineering related to municipal or provincial infrastructure.
- Strong experience with the design and rehabilitation of bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
- Proficiency in relevant design codes and standards, including CSA S6 and MTO guidelines.
- Skilled in software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, SAP2000, and MIDAS Civil.
- Familiarity with project delivery for the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) and/or municipalities.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- A solid grasp of structural systems, materials, and technologies.
- Knowledge of project management principles is considered an asset.
