The Work
As a Quality Engineer II, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality of our software products by designing, developing, and executing test strategies and automation frameworks. You will work closely with Lead Quality Engineer, developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to advocate for quality best practices, shift-left testing, and continuous improvement in the development lifecycle.
The core parts of your role would be to:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test cases for web, mobile, and API testing
- Collaborate with developers to implement shift-left testing strategies, ensuring early defect detection and prevention
- Execute and maintain functional and regression automated testing as part of the CI/CD pipeline
- Drive test strategy discussions and contribute to test plan creation to ensure comprehensive test coverage
- Identify, document, and track defects, working closely with development teams for timely resolution
- Develop and maintain quality metrics, reporting on test coverage, defect trends, and automation effectiveness
- Advocate for continuous improvement in test processes, tools, and techniques to enhance software quality
- Participate in release readiness reviews, ensuring the stability and reliability of production deployments
- Timely escalation of quality related issues to the QE manager
- Participate in the continuous improvement of test documentation, processes, and test tools
- Follow prescribed change control procedures, making sure all changes are properly documented, approved, and communicated
- Support UAT activities with business units as required
Let's Talk About You!
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Software Quality Assurance
- Minimum of 2 years' experience with UI & API Automation
- Understanding of Microservice Architecture
- UI and API Automation framework such as Selenium Webdriver and BDD -Cucumber and Postman/JavaScript
- Mobile Automation framework such as Appium
- Understanding of Java, JavaScript and the ability to write code from scratch
- Engineering practices such as DevOps tools and process (Azure DevOps/GitHub), Source code and version management (GIT), service virtualization (Parasoft/Smartbear/Wiremock), API Log analysis and monitoring tools (Kibana/Splunk)
- Experience writing SQL statements and database testing skills
- Experience working on Integration testing and Releases
- University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical degree or equivalent experience is required
- Understanding of software QA methodologies, tools and processes is required
- Thorough understanding of SDLC and its best practices for both Waterfall (phased testing) and Agile models (in-sprint testing)
- Good understanding of Scrum/Agile software development process
Additional Nice to Have Skills:
- Strong skills in using JIRA + Confluence + Zephyr
- Previous experience working with Lending Origination and Core Banking Systems such as Temenos, PortfolioPlus and Cyberquery

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank's additional office space located at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.
