GFL Environmental Inc., is organizing a hiring event for Operators, Labourers, Mechanics and Chemical Cleaning Operators on May 1 2025 at 11 Brown Ave, Dartmouth NS.
Time: 8:30AM - 4:30 PM

LABOURER, INDUSTRIAL SERVICES

A "Day in the Life" of a Labourer, Industrial Services:

Perform industrial cleaning using Hot Wash, High Pressure and Hose Truck

Confined space entry

Lift up to 50lbs to set up and control hoses, and to shovel waste material

Support the operation of the vacuum truck and mobile wash

Represent the Company by providing professional customer service to our clients, customers, vendors, both on and off the job

Participate in all work related tasks as assigned by your Supervisor at a variety of locations in a safe and effective manner

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

High School Diploma

Class 5 license is required

Must have good communication skills to be able to interact verbally with peers and customers

Able to lift up to 50lbs

Comfortable working at heights

OPERATOR, INDUSTRIAL SERVICES

A "Day in the Life" of a Operator, Industrial Services:

  • Can operate and understand the operation of equipment which includes camera truck, mobile wash, vacuum trucks, wet/dry vacuum truck unit and high-pressure water blast unit
  • Perform industrial cleaning using pressure wash, High Pressure and Hose Truck
  • Perform and assist Camera Operation for entry into sewer pipes for inspection purposes and pipeline flushing
  • Perform confined space entry jobs
  • Lift up to 50lbs to set up and control hoses, and to shovel waste material
  • Accurately complete pre and post trip inspections and work orders on time and in a legible manner
  • Represent the Company by providing professional customer service to our clients, customers, vendors, both on and off the job
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings and identify and report all workplace injuries, incidents and potential hazards immediately to your Supervisor
  • Participate in all work related tasks as assigned by your Supervisor at a variety of locations in a safe and effective manner
  • Work efficiently to meet or exceed our productivity goals while maintaining high quality standards

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma
  • Class 3 license is required
  • Must have good communication skills to be able to interact verbally with peers and customers
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Able to perform confirmed space entry tasks
  • Comfortable working at heights

MECHANIC, FLEET MAINTENANCE

A "Day in the Life" of a Mechanic at GFL Environmental :

  • Safely operate, repair, and maintain our diverse fleet, including Hydro-vacs, dry vacs, tankers, vac trucks, roll-offs, box trucks, pickups, flat deck trailers, Jet Routers, and more!
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, disassemble, inspect, and replace worn or broken parts
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, clutches, electrical and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, hydraulics, cooling systems, exhaust, brakes, suspensions, lights, etc., on a variety of yard equipment, heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and other equipment
  • Diagnose and repair engines and engine support systems, steering, suspension and brake systems, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Local repair and road call (emergency response)
  • Write service reports and record analysis

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have Truck and Transport Red Seal certification, or be nearing completion of Red Seal requirements
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly

CHEMICAL CLEANING OPERATOR

A "Day in the Life" of a Chemical Cleaning Operator:

  • Operate pumps, heat exchangers and circulation units
  • Set-up of temporary equipment & perform routine tasks such as installation of Victaulic pipe, chemical hose, and mixing various chemicals
  • Complete equipment maintenance inspections
  • Extensive travel (mostly within Canada) for projects and turnarounds at client sites

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 1 year previous Industrial or Chemical Cleaning experience
  • Class 3 or 5 Drivers' License with a clean abstract
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs frequently
