Job Details:
The successful candidate will ensure our operations comply with Alberta's safety standards, regulations, and best practices. This role is critical in maintaining a safe work environment, minimizing risks, and ensuring the well-being of all employees. The Safety Specialist's role is vital in communicating our safety expectations and ensuring everyone is operating in compliance with our policies, procedures, and best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures specific to Alberta regulations, including the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, Regulation, and Code.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of fluid hauling operations, ensuring compliance with Alberta Transportation and Workplace Health & Safety standards.
- Ensure adherence to provincial regulations, including the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Act and the Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) requirements.
- Provide safety training and education to drivers, operators, and other personnel on Alberta-specific safety protocols.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses, ensuring thorough documentation and reporting to relevant Alberta authorities.
- Maintain up-to-date records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports, ensuring compliance with Alberta's legal requirements.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement safety improvement plans that align with Alberta's regulatory framework.
- Stay informed about changes in Alberta safety standards, industry best practices, and emerging safety trends.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a safety role, ideally within the fluid hauling or transportation industry in BC.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Alberta safety regulations, including the OHS Act, TDG Act, and WCB standards.
- Strong understanding of risk management and accident prevention in the context of Alberta's regulatory environment.
- Excellent communication and training skills, with experience in delivering Alberta-specific safety training.
