The Vice-President, Enterprise Strategy is accountable for identifying opportunities that will optimize the diverse businesses within the CIBC Group of Companies, to drive consistent and sustainable earnings growth, improve client experience, and ensure top tier shareholder returns. In partnership with senior business and functional group leaders across CIBC, the role is focused on defining and implementing integrated, interdisciplinary, cross-business strategies by:

Identifying strategic opportunities to maximize benefit to existing clients by expanding our share of wallet across the full breadth of CIBC's product offerings;

Identifying opportunities with new clients, new regions or new products that will contribute to CIBC's strategy;
-
Contributing to the strategic direction of CIBC through the assessment and execution of inorganic opportunities.
The Vice-President is also accountable for driving the formulation of CIBC's overall growth strategy and enhancing CIBC's strategic planning processes. This includes providing strategic insight, recommendations and effective challenge to our Canadian Banking business leadership, which includes Personal Banking, Business Banking, Commercial Banking and Wealth Management.

What You'll be Doing
Partner with the CEO and the Executive Committee in setting CIBC's strategic direction through the development of short and long-term strategy and business plans, including:

Developing the strategic direction and plan for CIBC in alignment with CIBC's overall strategic priorities and goals;

Actively participating in executive, business and functional team leadership management meetings to provide strategic perspective and effective challenge, as required;
-
Reviewing business and functional group strategies for alignment with CIBC's overall strategic direction and stakeholder expectations;
-
Delivering strategic plans to CIBC's Executive Committee and Board of Directors for information and/or approval;
-
Managing the communication of CIBC's strategy to team members at all levels of the organization and other stakeholders, as required;
-
Closely partnering with the Corporate Development team and other stakeholders across CIBC to identify and execute inorganic initiatives, including acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, strategic investments and partnerships;

Developing detailed financial and strategic analysis, in partnership with the Finance team, to comprehensively evaluate opportunities;
-
Monitoring progress against stated strategies and providing guidance to re-align or re-focus efforts as appropriate;
-
Providing oversight of transformational growth and efficiency initiatives;
-
Escalating any issues that may affect strategy execution or that may require a change to strategy.
Establish and maintain a network of strategic relationships (e.g., CIBC key stakeholders, financial sector business leaders, government agencies, investors) in order to:

Gather market and competitive intelligence and trends to translate client and general population demographics into business implications;
-
Keep abreast of changes in the external market in an effort to protect CIBC brand and market positioning within the financial services industry;
-
Monitor competitor activities, market conditions and identify product and market opportunities to maximize benefits;
-
Understand competitors' strategies, marketing, products and service offerings in order to increase market competitiveness and profile CIBC positively within the broader business community;
-
Assess market and business opportunities and recommend business initiatives and priorities for leveraging synergies that will lead to growth and profitability.

Extensive knowledge of the Financial Services industry with solid experience as a senior and strategic leader within a large organization.

Detailed planning and execution discipline, including ability to create detailed business plans for new initiatives, execute and monitor progress.
