Our client in the fine foods and grocery industry is looking for a permanent, full-time, Meat and Seafood Manager to lead their team located in downtown Halifax, NS. The successful candidate will have prior supervisory experience, great communication skills, and a strong interest to lead a team to success.
Job Title: Meat & Seafood Manager
Location: Halifax, NS
Pay Range: $40k to $45k per year starting salary
What's the Job?
- Manage Department Operations: Plan, organize, direct, and control activities to ensure profitability and success.
- Financial Management: Achieve profit margin, sales, and wage ratio targets; control inventory levels and pricing.
- Team Leadership: Select, train, coach, and build a strong team; maintain high employee morale and productivity.
- Customer Service: Ensure prompt, courteous, and memorable service; handle customer complaints effectively.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards in product quality, food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation.
- Communication: Foster effective communication within the team through various methods (verbal, email, daily huddles).
- Innovation: Stay updated on food industry trends and competitive activity; source new products and inform business decisions.
- Merchandising: Build and maintain attractive displays to maximize sales and minimize waste.
- Problem-solving: Resolve and document issues such as customer complaints, product problems, and staffing concerns.
- Collaboration: Work with other department leaders and team members to ensure overall store success.
What's Needed?
- Two or more prior years of management or supervisory experience in a similar environment is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail in all aspects of the role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability in delivering strong customer service and handling challenging situations.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office and Time and Attendance management software.
- Fine interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Keen interest and knowledge of meat, poultry, and seafood products and suppliers.
- Ability to build trust, develop collaborative relationships, and inspire team commitment.
- Able to work a varied schedule of 8 hour shifts that correspond with business hours, 8 AM to 8 PM, 7 days a week.
