Team & Job Overview

The Total Rewards team oversees the design, governance, and compliance of compensation, benefits, wellness and pension programs to attract, engage, and retain top talent. This role ensures that EDC's Total Rewards offerings remain competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with the organization's strategic priorities. Reporting to the VP, HR-Operations and as a member of the HR leadership team, the Director plays a critical role in supporting the organization's ability to attract and retain high-performing staff through innovative and responsive rewards strategies, fostering employee satisfaction and long-term commitment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Total Rewards team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
  • Mentor, develop, and foster an inclusive and supportive environment for team growth to enhance their skills and build organizational capacity.
  • Design and implement innovative Total Rewards programs to attract, reward and retain top talent in Canada and abroad while maintaining cost-effectiveness while aligning total rewards with organizational strategy.
  • Oversee executive compensation and incentive programs, with a keen interest in understanding of key trends and innovations in total rewards.
  • Ensure governance, compliance, and alignment of compensation, benefits, wellness and pension programs with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Inspire and influence cross-functional collaboration to support organizational priorities and HR initiatives.
  • Manage and evaluate external service providers to deliver value and operational efficiency.
  • Support the professional development and career growth of team members to ensure readiness for future challenges.

Screening Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience will also be considered.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in HR, with a solid understanding of Total Rewards programs.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience advising senior executives and boards, with a strategic mindset and excellent communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HR principles, policies and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with setting up Total Rewards plans in diverse organizational structures (e.g., international, branch offices, separate legal entities) or comparable environments is an asset.
  • Functionally bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
  • Director Compensation & Benefits 20: Salaries typically range from $124,273 to $165,696 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive

Location
Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment and currently requires you to be in the office 3 days per week. This role will be performed from EDC's headquarters in Ottawa. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
