Job Title: Registered Nurse - Rheumatology Advanced Practice Provider
Location: Oakville, Ontario
Job Type: One Year Contract (possibility to extend)

Monday to Friday - Day Shifts Only!

The Rheumatology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in this role enhances care of patients in the rheumatology outpatient clinic by complementing assessment and counseling of patients.

The APP also enhances clinic flow by processing administrative tasks related to patient care, and applies their training in rheumatologic conditions to provide an additional expert point of contact for the patient to supplement care provided by the rheumatologist.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Applying advanced clinical skills to perform autonomous comprehensive assessments that incorporate results of the clinical history, physical examination, and imaging.

Applying current knowledge and skills to assess, investigate, and in consultation with rheumatologist, diagnose and manage patients with MSK and rheumatologic conditions referred to the clinic.

Communicating medical advice to patients following consultation with rheumatologist

Working under medical directives to order appropriate imaging and laboratory tests to support assessment, diagnosis, and decision- making.

Triaging patient referrals, sending patient intake forms, and drafting note templates for new consultations.

Providing injection training and counselling on medication use to patients autonomously.

Providing education and recommendations to patients, families and their primary care providers to support the management of their condition and optimize function in keeping with best practice guidelines.

Job Qualification

CANDIDATES MUST HAVE:

Bachelors and/or Masters in Nursing
A current and valid license Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Must be an ACPAC graduate (Advanced Clinician Practitioner in Arthritis Care)
Advanced knowledge of and experience in rheumatology.
