Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our healthcare team for a temporary locum position. The ideal candidate will have over 2 years experience working in the field of occupational therapy, including experience in private practice for motor vehicle insurance claims. The successful candidate will have experience aiding with the rehabilitation of both adult and pediatric clientele who present with complex polytrauma, including physical impairments, brain injury, and mental health changes. This position requires a self-directed candidate with excellent written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications
You have a University Degree in Occupational Therapy
You are a registered member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
You have a valid Ontario Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
You have experience working with individuals with complex polytrauma, including brain injury, mental health, and physicial injuries in a residential or community setting.
You can demonstrate a work history including at least one year providing Occupational Therapy in the automobile insurance sector
You posess a valid CPR / First Aid certificate for health care providers
Knowledge of Turkish culture and language is an asset.

Responsibilities
Conduct functional assessments and evaluations to determine the rehabilitation needs of clientele, and to develop individualized treatment plans
Travel to client's homes in the community to provide direct intervention services as required, including treatment and assessment.
Attend scheduled meetings on a monthly basis with the clinic manager at the clinic location in Kingston, Ontario.
Provide occupational therapy interventions to improve clients' abilities to perform daily activities in a safe and culturally appropriate manner, and advocate for funding to support your recommendations
Provision of direct or consultant services for each client, liaisoning
Assessment of clients and establishment and ongoing evaluation / revision of treatment programs, including goals and discharge plans
Participate in and contribute to all aspects of the program including home based rehabilitation, life skills training, functional and community activities
Maintain current accurate clinical records according to the standards of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
Document assessment results, goals, treatment, client progress, and discharge plans
Collaborate with other members of the health team as needed
Communicate pertinent information and recommendations to clients/care providers and providing education regarding treatment strategies as needed
Observe the performance of those assisting in the Occupational Therapy program and providing guidance as necessary
Maintain active standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
Provide education to patients and their families on therapeutic techniques

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 4.5 months

Pay: $50.00-$65.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6 - 10 per week

This job requires that the successful candidate dedicate at least one day per week for the locum period in order to provide client care. There is flexibility on whether these visits occur on weekdays or weekends; however, it is important that you offer clients a reliable schedule.
