Job Description:

Shared Health (1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 5R9), Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA), and The University of Manitoba, Department of Internal Medicine, are inviting applications for a Nephrologist to fill our labour shortage in Manitoba. Main job duties include diagnosing and treating diseases, prescribing medications and treatments, ordering lab tests and x-rays, and consulting with other physicians as required.
The successful candidate will provide clinical care for the Manitoba Renal Program and expand the capacity at the Health Sciences Center to deliver clinical care to complex kidney disease patients. The current nephrologist group has members with a variety of academic interests including clinical research, medical education, and interventional nephrology.

The Manitoba Renal Program (MRP) coordinates and delivers kidney health-care services for adults in Manitoba and promotes kidney health through education. The program is an interdisciplinary team of health-care professionals working together alongside hospitals, regional health authorities, governments, and communities to deliver the highest quality kidney health care and education.

Based primarily at the Health Sciences Center, the position is for a non-GFT, NIL academic appointment within the Section of Nephrology with a start date of July 1, 2025, or as soon as thereafter possible based on the successful candidate's availability, for a term to be negotiated renewable upon favorable review.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Nephrology. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.

The successful candidate is expected to provide direct contact teaching of undergraduate medical students, participate in post-graduate teaching of residents, and attend academic functions in the Section of Nephrology. Further academic training and skills would be an asset as the candidate would also be encouraged to participate in research and quality initiatives.

Compensation:

Compensation is derived from a blending of fee-for-service income plus a nil academic daily stipend.
