Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Dietitian to join our healthcare team. The Clinical Dietitian will be responsible for assessing patients' nutritional needs, developing and implementing nutrition plans, and providing dietary counseling to promote overall health and well-being.

Responsibilities

-1. Provides nutrition care of residents in consultation with families and Resident Care Team. Assesses nutritional status, develops and implements nutrition care plans, monitors, evaluates and documents all aspects of nutrition care activities. Consults and educates residents, families and staff in therapeutic diets and normal nutrition.

2. Maintains nutritional adequacy of menus and standard portions for individual residents and population. Identifies formula, calculates and implements tube feed regimes for residents with gastrostomy/jejunostomy tubes. Establishes meal schedule and flow rate to maximize nutritional well being.

3. Establishes and maintains standards for the provision of therapeutic diets and texture modifications according to IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative), Dietitians of Canada Best Practise Guidelines for Long Term Care, and Residential Care Regulations BC 96 (last amended March 30, 2022).

4. Participates in QI activities including developing, revising and evaluating departmental goals and objectives, performance standards and indicators for clinical nutrition. Monitors quality of food service/nutrition care and participates in the continuous improvements of clinical practice guidelines.

5. Provides nutrition orientation / in-service education sessions for food service and interdisciplinary staff. In collaboration with Nursing, Therapists and Coordinator Volunteer Services, provides mealtime in-services to resident care staff and volunteers.

6. Evaluates and selects nutrition related products and equipment as requested.

7. Maintains resident records and statistics in accordance with hospital/departmental standards. Prepares monthly reports on clinical nutrition to the Director Resident Care.

8. Participates in Resident Care Team meetings and Resident Care Conferences, liaises with other hospital committees as requested; serves on committees outside the hospital related to the profession of dietetics, as required by the Hospital.

9. Maintains a safe, secure environment for residents and staff by taking immediate action in situations involving a real or potential risk to persons or property. Reports, investigates, follows up and documents incident or unusual occurrence following established procedures.

Pay: $40.75-$50.87 per hour

Education:
Bachelor's Degree (required)

Experience:
Registered Dietitian: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:
BC College of Dietitians membership in good standing (required)
Completion of Canadian Dietetics Registration Exam (required)
