Your role and responsibilities:
Assists physicians, liaison nurses, and healthcare professionals with care planning, discharge planning, follow-up, and support for complex respiratory clients. Provides expert care by assessing client and family needs, evaluating home-based care suitability, and creating individualized care plans.
Offers recommendations on respiratory equipment and therapy, arranges necessary home equipment, and adjusts care plans as needed. Provides consultation and training for clients requiring home mechanical ventilation, performs diagnostic tests upon request, and maintains detailed treatment records. Ensures effective communication with the healthcare team throughout the client's Community Health Services admission.
Collaborate with physicians, liaison nurses, and other staff to identify clients who meet eligibility and clinical admission criteria for the Community RRT. You will work closely with all disciplines to ensure coordinated client care, including Home Health Monitoring (HHM), and participate in multi-disciplinary case conferences.
Contributes to the development of CHS protocols, policies, and procedures, and helps set future priorities and direction. Participates in continuous quality improvement and assurance activities, including evaluating and measuring program outcomes, engaging in research studies, and identifying best practices.
Provides education related to respiratory care and disease including asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, pneumonia, respiratory drugs, nebulizers, oxygen therapy and other related equipment to individuals and groups.
Monitors and stays updated on current trends and developments in respiratory therapy and disorders by identifying learning needs, participating in educational programs and workshops, and researching information through library resources and current issue files.

What you need to apply:
Graduate of a recognized Respiratory Therapy education program.
Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) certification
Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE); including completion of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) course, Asthma course, and Education for Chronic Disease Course; and Current CPR level "C" or BLS HCP certificate.
Minimum of 3 years' respiratory care experience within the past 5 years, in a variety of treatment settings such as hospital, emergency, and at least one year experience in community and/or outpatient care.
Specific training and practice in pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma education, respiratory home care, home ventilation and sleep disorders.
Knowledge of current technologies and treatments for acute and chronic respiratory conditions such as pneumonia, COPD and asthma.
Experience in policy/procedural development and quality improvement initiatives; and
Current membership or eligible for membership in the B.C. Society of Respiratory Therapists.
Valid BC driver's license.
