We're hiring a SUSHI CHEF to join our BOH team

We are looking for energetic SUSHI CHEF to prepare sushi dishes in accordance with food health and safety regulations and restaurant standards.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting different types of fish.
Inspecting the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish used to prepare sushi dishes and informing the Chef de Cuisine when quality is sub-standard.
Preparing various types of sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.
Maintaining a clean work environment in order to prevent food contamination.
Manage a small back of house team.
Regularly taking inventory of food supplies and other products.
Reporting any problems with kitchen equipment to the manager on duty.
Sterilizing all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before every use.
Communicating with wait staff to ensure that special requests and food allergy considerations are met.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years' experience as a sushi chef
Must be able to cut fish, make Nigiri and Sashimi
Excellent attention to detail with a creative flair
Ability to work weekends, holidays, mornings, and evenings
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism (i.e. punctuality, commitment to the job, well-groomed, mannerly, great team work etc.)
Excellent food knowledge and understanding of cooking terms/methods
Skills to coordinate and organize processes and people
Valid food handler's license.
