Under the general direction of the Manager, Operations, the incumbent is responsible for data analysis, developing reports/dashboards, data visualization, data monitoring, report writing and resulting recommendations related to department's specific business requirements, including but not limited to co-op admissions, retention, work term evaluation, graduation rates, and co-op activity levels (i.e. co-op preparation, recruitment, application, work term evaluation, and business development). The incumbent will be responsible for translating business needs and complex data inquiries into easily understood business requirements, responses, reports, and gathering and analyzing the required data to support decision making by the management team. The incumbent is also responsible for developing and documenting current and proposing improved workflow and business processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Determining the best methods for collecting and analyzing data.
  • Determining key performance indicators to measure success.
  • Developing information management methods in order to optimize the use of data.
  • Designing surveys to support the evaluation of strategies and objectives.
  • Analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making (using Business Intelligence/Analytics Tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Cognos Cubes).
  • Designing presentations of data analysis findings.
  • Configuring web applications according to objectives or user feedback.
  • Testing new software configurations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in data science, statistics, or analytics, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience with data management and analysis, preferable within a higher education environment.
  • Experience designing and generating reports.
  • Experience analyzing data and identifying meaningful trends and results.
  • Experience developing projections to support strategic planning.
  • Experience calculating ROI measurements for marketing and business development activities, as well as supporting continuous improvement activities.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel (specifically pivot tables, formulas, relational tables, Macros) and Visio.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with non-technical users.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative.
  • Ability to exercise tact, good judgment, and confidentiality.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience using Business Intelligence software and Data Visualization tools to create dashboards in order to facilitate data-driven decision preferred
  • Experience with CSM, Salesforce, Qualtrics would be a strong asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Power BI, Cognos Cubes and other reporting tools preferred

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 12 -- $78,308 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $100,144. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
