Are you seeking immediate employment in a safe, clean, well-lit work environment? Join our growing team with a world-renowned cosmetic company located at Major Mackenzie and Highway 404, Markham. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for Night shift to start IMMEDIATELY.

Shift: Day

Pay Rate: $24/hour plus 4% vacation pay

Shift Time: 7:00am to 3:00pm

Working Days: Monday to Friday

What is the job?

- Perform and assist Line Technicians with set-ups/equipment changeovers for filling, assembly, and process equipment including (but not limited to): fillers (lipstick, hot pours, foundation, mascara, etc.), cartoners, over-wrappers, case packers, labelers, lasers, ink jet coders, kettles, mixers, pumps, etc.

- In-depth troubleshooting of drive mechanisms, including, but not limited to, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, and bearings.

Full job description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Perform a variety of operational tasks within focused work centers or production line, which includes setting-up, operating manufacturing and plant support equipment, troubleshooting, equipment repairs and maintenance. Support other areas of the business as required / assigned.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Equipment Set-up and Operability (30%)

- Perform basic set-ups / changeovers for packaging and process equipment within focused work centers or line including cleaning /organizing equipment as required

- Maintain packaging equipment during production runs

- Support the following line tasks: clear jams, change labels, change over-wrap, reset coders / code blocks

- Initiate trouble shooting / corrective action investigation and quality checks as required, and perform basic operator responsibilities

- Complete all necessary paper as required

- Perform other duties as assigned

2. Machinery / Repair / Equipment Maintenance (50%)

- Perform required PM's and breakdown analysis

- Address major equipment failure modes.

- Train operators on principle of operation of line equipment, teach them to trouble shoot issues, and diagnose problems to become better SMEs

- General troubleshooting of PLC/HMI, Photo sensors, Vision Systems, Thermal Printers, Utilities

- Interface with all packaging, process and support equipment within the site

- Troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic, hydraulic, and drive systems, including, but not limited to motors, gearboxes, pulleys and bearings

3. Continuous Improvement (20%)

- Actively participate and support facility and corporate Lean Manufacturing initiatives

- Review new equipment purchase specifications; provide feedback on equipment design and operability; support capital project installations (F.A.T, etc.)

- Conceptualize and implement design upgrades to outmoded devices and systems to increase production up-time and operational efficiencies

- Develop and improve preventative maintenance work orders to reduce failure modes

- Be an active member of the PIT Crew (where applicable)

4. Health and Safety (100% - At all times)

- Proactively identify and resolve safety concerns

- Observe and conform to all corporate company guidelines and procedures

- Adhere to established Lockout/Tag out Programs

- Actively participate and evaluate PSR's

- Participate in the establishment of annual company's objectives

5. Housekeeping (100% - At all times)

- Maintain clean work environment on the production floor and within the maintenance shop.

- Conform to all ergonomic assessment requirements

- Actively participate and support the Canadian Operations 5S Program

POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Must have a Degree in Mechanical engineering from a college or university; mechanical certificate pertaining to Packaging Equipment (Technician and/or Technologist), Millwright Certificate would be an asset.

Experience: 1-3 years of related experience in any company preferably in manufacturing

Competencies:

Technical: Knowledge of how to use machine tools and hand tools safely and correctly Understanding of basic mechanical principles Ability to apply knowledge of packaging / production equipment to maintain efficient performance.

Communication / Interpersonal: English language proficiency; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to resolve issues in a tactful and diplomatic manner, communicate expectations and outline maintenance requirements.
