Role

Working directly for the HSE Manager, the Safety Advisor will be responsible for the evaluation and assessment of work environments, based on Rising Edge's HSE policies as well as state and federal OHSA standards, where procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injuries caused to employee are working on the job site. Safety Advisor will enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of employees, with the support of HSE department, and may conduct inspections. This role will require travel to all Rising Edge project sites on a regular basis and may require the individual to be assigned to various projects for a prolonged period.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to all Rising Edge project sites to conduct on-site safety evaluations and audits.
  • Evaluating and assessing the work environment based all applicable internal and external as well as client policies and regulations
  • Enforcement of regulations governing Health and Safety where Rising Edge employees and subcontractor employees are not in compliance
  • May conduct work-site investigations and communicate the life-cycle of investigation, including results, to HSE Manager
  • Continuously monitor any all Health and Safety related issues experience or voiced by employees and subcontractor employees; and act as the on-site Point of Contact for all safety-related concerns
  • Continuously educate employees and subcontractor employees on health and safety policies, inform of new changes to Rising Edge's policies, legislation, and industry standards
  • Set a good example for employees regarding HSE practices
  • Track HSE stats for the project
  • Submit daily progress/activity reports

Schedule will be 2 weeks on 2 weeks off, 12-hour days. Overtime paid at time and a half after 10 hours in a day as well as after 40 hours in a week.

5 hours travel time paid at base rate to and from site, must be able to travel yourself to Millertown, travel from Millertown into site is arranged by company.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years experience supporting or leading safety programs
  • Min of two (2) years experience in the high voltage/electrical industry.
  • Professional Safety Certificate/Designation
  • Trade experience in high voltage, Powerlines and/or industrial electrical work is a definite asset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills is preferred
  • Thorough understanding of Incident Investigation, conformance verification and Root Cause Analysis is an asset
  • Ability to evaluate information to determine compliance with OSHA standards, Rising Edge Safety policies, etc. is needed
  • Software experience in Microsoft Suite (Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Outlook systems would be an asset.
  • Current CPR/standard first aid training
  • Valid Driver's license with an acceptable driving record
