This position is responsible for leading inspection of production quality activities in the Production Department while ensuring Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Asset Preservation and Productivity.
Requirements
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Coordinate the daily activities of the department and quality assurance inspectors in supporting production to ensure standards, time and budget requirements are met
- Responsible for ensuring all inspection activities are completed to standards and specifications; ensures corrective actions and non-conformances are completed
- Co-ordinate the investigation of area quality 'escapes' and associated corrective actions; work with Production, Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering departments
- Identify training requirements and ensure development of unionized employees. Maintain consistency and conformance to the Collective Agreement. Work with the Bargaining Unit representatives in order to resolve issues
- Responsible for the training, development and performance of inspection staff and providing guidance to team while ensure quality objectives are met
- Produce and maintain Quality Indicators and lead continuous improvement to ensure corrective and permanent actions are implemented within time limits
- Quality liaison to property inspectors, internal-external customers, suppliers and visitors
- Work proactively by performing consistently process audits to critical installation and develop and implement control plans
- Responsible for Quality Inspector shift planning and vacation
- Ensure appropriate levers of communication are being provided to quality assurance inspectors using toolbox meetings, shop notices, notice boards and other methods as the medium
- Identify and carry out projects or initiatives aimed at advancing department's business effectiveness including 5S targets and ensure compliance with organizational policies and practices
- Promote and monitor the Health and Safety programs though the support of current policy and procedures. Take an active role in the elimination of hazardous conditions in developing a safer working environment
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of skills and experience
- Knowledge of quality control, manufacturing, production and product knowledge and customer relations
- Effective leadership, critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to interact and deal with external property inspectors
- Ability to understand and communicate engineering concepts
