MISSION

The Counsellor plays a pivotal role in the Live-In Treatment program, providing therapeutic support and counselling to youth facing emotional, psychological, and social challenges. This role involves comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and facilitating individual and group therapy sessions within a structured milieu environment.

The Pod Group is partnering with this organization to place a strong, determined, and strategic individual to fulfill the role of the Counsellor.

PRIORITIES

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to conduct comprehensive formulations and assessments of youth, identifying needs and developing individualized treatment plans.
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group therapy, to support youth and their families.
• Effectively address crises, ensuring youth safety and well-being through de-escalation techniques and supportive interventions.
• Facilitate life skills and coping skills training to assist residents in managing challenges and preparing for successful reintegration into the community.
• Help youth and families navigate healthcare and community resources, advocating for their needs and rights within the community and the treatment program.
• Partner with medical staff, psychologists, and other therapists to provide comprehensive care.
• Actively participate in designing and implementing individualized, goal-oriented treatment programs for each child and their family.
• Maintain accurate and timely records of therapeutic sessions, progress notes, and treatment plans in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
• Participate in community education initiatives to promote mental health awareness and highlight the benefits of live-in treatment programs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

TALENTS & EXPERTISE

• A Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a relevant field. A Master's degree is considered an asset.
• Registration with the OCSWSSW or the CRPO is required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Live-In Treatment or relevant healthcare setting.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on clinical treatment experience in a relevant healthcare setting.
• Current Standard First Aid, CPR and CPI certificate.
• Highly developed psychosocial assessment skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated clinical skills in providing planning, therapy, and counselling support to individuals and families.
• Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex cases.
• Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
• Flexible hours as needed.
