Data Platform Architect.

REDspace is seeking a Data Platform Architect with proven expertise in designing and implementing large-scale, modern data solutions. In this role, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to create optimized, secure, and scalable data architectures that empower data-driven decisions. This is a hybrid role based in our Bedford, NS office, with 3 days per week of in-office presence required.

About the Role.

  • Architect, build, deploy, and maintain scalable, performant, and secure data platforms with a high standard of quality.
  • Design and optimize data pipelines for high-volume ingestion, storage, and processing using tools like Apache Spark, Flink, Kafka, and Airflow.
  • Solve complex data challenges by crafting effective, efficient, and maintainable solutions that meet evolving business needs.
  • Implement modern data architecture principles, including event-driven architectures, microservices, and serverless computing.
  • Lead data initiatives end-to-end, defining objectives, guiding architectural decisions, and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Develop and optimize schema design, metadata management, and data lifecycle strategies to support robust data solutions.
  • Drive integration of analytics and machine learning workflows using frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy standards, including data lineage, classification, and cataloging (e.g., Apache Atlas, Collibra).
  • Collaborate across teams to align expectations, resolve challenges, and deliver impactful results.
  • Mentor and support developers, fostering knowledge sharing and professional growth within REDspace.
  • Work with REDspace and prospective client teams on solution designs and proposals.

Skills/Experience.

  • Proven experience in data platform architecture, data engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in building data lakes, data warehouses, and event-driven data architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with schema design, metadata management, and data lifecycle management.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and services like AWS Glue, Redshift, BigQuery, and Synapse.
  • Proficiency in data-centric programming languages (Python, SQL, Java, or Go).
  • Experience with database query optimization and orchestration tools like Apache Airflow and dbt.
  • Strong understanding of big data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink, Kafka) and cloud-native data services.
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance tools (e.g., Apache Atlas, Collibra) and best practices.
  • Proven track record in optimizing data systems for scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Knowledge of analytics and machine learning integration, including BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Looker.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience working with product teams and stakeholders on aligning data systems with business needs.

Bonus Points.

  • Background in machine learning or data science workflows and supporting infrastructures.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI) to create actionable insights.
  • Experience with Data Mesh standards and implementations.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases and big data technologies like Hadoop and Dataflow.

This role may require obtaining Reliability, and other security clearances to work on certain projects.
