Founded in 1918, CNIB is one of Canada's oldest charities. For more than 60 years, CNIB Lake Joe has been providing exciting, safe, and accessible camp experiences for Canadians with sight loss. CNIB Lake Joe is looking for a Driverto help us bring the magic of summer camp to life for 'kids of all ages' with sight loss, and their families!

Your Impact at CNIB
  • Assist participants, and always keep safety at the forefront; demonstrate safe and responsible driving habits when in control of vehicles and comply with all traffic and road safety laws.
  • Conduct and document a comprehensive safety check of vehicles (minivan and/or other vehicles requiring Class G license) prior to use and ensure vehicles are operating in good condition, with adequate fuel, etc.
  • Complete required logbooks and paperwork to track the amount of fuel used and number of passengers transported.
  • Maintain a safe environment within the vehicle by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies, as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicles (inside and outside), alert management to any maintenance requirements.

Requirements

Who you are:Education and Certifications
  • High school diploma an asset.
  • Valid Class G driver's licence (minimum) required.
  • Class F driver's licence or equivalent an asset.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.
  • Current and valid Driver's Abstract.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C an asset.
  • Must be 25 years or older.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including patience and communication.
  • Experience working in camps or other recreational facilities an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in a changing and busy environment.
  • Related experience an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
Work Environment
  • Ability to interact with participants, volunteers, staff, and vendors in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, weekdays and/or weekends.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects more than 30 lbs. (e.g., luggage).
  • Respects the importance of confidential information while effectively functioning as a team member or working independently.
