About the Event Marketing Manager role
We are looking for an outstanding marketer to help connect Canadian businesses with Float's financial solutions, from coast to coast. Marketing is a high-impact department at Float, and as Event Marketing Manager, you'll be at the forefront of expanding our presence nationwide. You'll lead the strategy and execution of virtual, in-person, and hybrid events that boost brand awareness, generate leads, and deepen customer engagement. Collaborating closely with sales, product, and customer success teams, you'll create memorable event experiences that fuel pipeline growth and strengthen customer retention.
What your week-to-week looks like:
- Event Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement an event marketing strategy that spans the entire customer journey from awareness through to pipeline generation, including trade shows, webinars, conferences, partner events, and customer meetups.
- End-to-End Event Ownership: From planning and promotion to execution and business impact of all events. Attend events both virtually and in-person, coordinating set-up, tear-down, attendee logistics, swag and everything in-between to make the event successful. Develop, manage and optimize event budgets.
- Create Memorable Experiences: Help prospects and customers feel valued and deepen their positive sentiment about Float through creative, innovative and memorable experiences.
- Champion Float's Brand: Represent Float at key industry events, building relationships and creating engaging experiences for partners, customers, and potential prospects.
- Full-Funnel Marketing Promotion & Nurturing: Develop and execute multi-channel campaigns designed to drive attendance, generate leads and nurture existing prospects through the sales funnel.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, product, and customer success teams to align event goals with company objectives, ensuring event themes and content excite our target audiences. Integrate strategies and messages closely with the other Marketing initiatives.
- Data-Driven Optimization and Analysis: Analyze the success and impact of each event, reviewing KPIs like attendance, audience engagement, leads, pipeline influence, and ROI. Use these insights to inform future strategies and decisions. Ensure a seamless transition from event to Float followup, carrying the magic of the event into realized pipeline and customer expansion goals.
Requirements
You'll be great in this role if:
- You've got the experience. To be successful in this role, we're looking for 3-5 years of event marketing experience in a B2B environment, ideally with a bachelor's degree (though that's not required). You've taken ownership over an events calendar from strategy through to execution.
- You value impact over checklists. While you are a natural project manager with high attention to detail, you are comfortable optimizing and iterating on initial plans to achieve maximum impact.
- You love networking. Meeting new people at an event is your jam, and the conference coffee cart feels like home.
- You thrive on designing fantastic in-person and virtual experiences. You're extremely creative and love brainstorming new and engaging experiences. You always have a new wild idea you'd love to try out and are crafty in finding ways to bring it to life.
- You're eager to continue your own learning. Scrappy and voracious, you want to know the 'why' behind every answer. You're a creative thinker who can combine quantitative thinking with a great aesthetic. Finding creative ways to work through obstacles is fun for you.
- You're resourceful and independent. You're no stranger to solving problems and a last-minute change in schedule is no sweat for you. You've got a Plan B (and C) to try out.
This role won't be a fit if:
- You aren't open to travel. This role will require on-site attendance at many of our events both in Toronto and across Canada.
- You are not a self-starter and do not like to work independently
- You don't have high attention to detail
- You don't like ambiguity
- You don't like regular feedback on your work
- Here's a more customer-centric version:
- You aren't genuinely passionate about helping Canadian businesses succeed by connecting them with the best financial solutions.
- You are uncomfortable with direct feedback
- You prefer stability over change
- You aren't comfortable prioritizing your own to-do list
- You don't have a very strong work ethic
- You aren't a team player
- You aren't resilient
- You have an ego
Don't meet every single requirement? If you're excited about this role, and you strongly align with our values but your past experience doesn't align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this, or other future positions.
