Job Description:
NOTE: The start date for this position is May 2025 for 4 months.
The Summer Student – Security and Compliance will provide support to on-going Information Security Management System (ISMS) and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) sustainment activities as well as act as a key team member on continuous improvement initiatives associated with Corporate Security.
Responsibilities:
- Participate as a core team member on multiple programs within the Security and Information Services team.
- Assist with ongoing support for ongoing continuous improvement initiatives within the information security programs.
- Assist with ongoing change management and communication support related to AltaLink's information security programs.
- Assist with the development or revision of information security standards, policies and operational procedures.
- Assist with the development and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) related to AltaLink's information security programs.
- Assist with the documentation and execution of Risk Assessment and Treatment within in-scope areas.
- Manage and address information security inquiries and responses from both internal and external parties.
- Provide support to the Security and Compliance team in preparation for upcoming audits and certification reviews.
- Assist information security stakeholders to interpret and collect ISMS and CIP compliance artifacts and evidence.
- Assist in the management of storage locations for all information security electronic and hard copy documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum 2nd year student, pursuing a degree in Computer Sciences, Business Admin or equivalent program.
- Experience with the development and review of policy, process and procedure documentation.
- Strong computing skills in MS Office Applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- SharePoint experience would be an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of continuous improvement processes and models.
- Understanding of enterprise change management models and concepts.
- Understanding of risk assessment processes.
- Understanding of audit processes and concepts.
- Familiarity with ISO Standards would be an asset.
- Familiarity with Alberta Reliability Standards would be an asset.
- Understand the structure and intent of the ISO 27000 management framework.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to learn and take direction from all members of the ISMS team.
- Proven track record of good attendance and job performance.
