Role Description / Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical engineering design work on various projects and act as Engineer of Record for issued drawings, specifications, data sheets, engineering lists, and construction packages.
- Experience with sizing, selection, and specification of major mechanical equipment, process pumping equipment, process piping design, process vessels, tanks, and some knowledge of industrial ventilation, HVAC, and building services will be an asset. Knowledge of applicable design and/or construction codes and standards.
- Work with mechanical designers for CAD work in support of the development of 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Develop and revise technical specifications, work on scope of supply, Material Take Offs to support capital cost estimation, Bill of Materials for procurement, and construction work packages.
- Signing and/or sealing of technical documents, including drawings, technical specifications, data sheets, engineering lists (such as equipment list, pipeline list, tie-in point list, valve lists, etc.), and calculations.
There are a number of projects occurring at a site that this Mechanical Engineer role will support over the next year. These projects include, but are not limited to:
- Underground Brine Piping Expansion
- Underground Heat Exchanger Bay outfitting
- Surface Brine Refrigeration expansion
- Waste Water Treatment Plant Piping Replacement Campaign
This is a Monday to Friday role, a minimum 3 days a week in the office. The ideal candidate must live local to Saskatoon.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- P.Eng designation
- Experience with sizing and selection of major mechanical equipment
- Proficiency in process piping design, including P&IDs, piping specifications, and piping isometrics
- Experience with pumping systems and equipment layout design, including mechanical general arrangement, mechanical plans, sections, and details
- Knowledge of building services, including drains and vents
- Experience with hydraulic modelling and simulation (e.g., AFT Fathom)
- Proficiency in piping stress analysis (e.g., CAESAR)
- Experience with steam/condensate and refrigerated cold-temperature piping systems
- Experience with Uranium would be an asset
