POSITION SUMMARY

As the Director of Materials Management, you will spearhead the transformation of our materials department into a world-class operation. You will have the opportunity to shape and direct all activities associated with materials management, including receiving, shipping, shop floor operations, planning, and inventory control. This pivotal role will require you to lead with innovation, continuously improve processes, and develop a high-performing team. Success in this position means driving the department forward through best practices, strategic initiatives, and staff development.

Requirements

  • Operational Leadership: Ensure the timely delivery of materials to the production line, driving efficiency and accuracy in all aspects of material handling.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and direct the department's continuous improvement initiatives, aligning processes and procedures across all sites to create a seamless operation.
  • Strategic Development: Oversee the development, communication, and deployment of departmental policies, guidelines, and tools, ensuring consistent success across the board.
  • Inventory Management: Enhance and maintain inventory accuracy through world-class processes and lean manufacturing principles, including 5S programs.
  • Performance Metrics: Design, update, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), utilizing dashboards, stand-up meetings, and other tools to track and improve departmental performance.
  • Budget Oversight: Take full ownership of the materials budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and strategic allocation of resources.
  • Demand Planning: Manage dependent demand MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and OAS (Order Action Summaries) actions to optimize material flow.
  • System Integrity: Maintain the highest standards of data integrity across all material-related systems and processes.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the accurate implementation of Engineering Change Orders and the precision of work orders within the manufacturing process.
  • Work Order Management: Guarantee timely release and accuracy of work orders to meet production demands.
  • Inventory Control: Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of sub-inventories and lead end-of-year company inventory counts.
  • Team Leadership: Conduct annual performance reviews, providing coaching and development opportunities to elevate your team.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to ISO procedures and develop work instructions that set the standard for the materials team.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required, laying the groundwork for your strategic and analytical capabilities.
  • A minimum of 10 years in an OEM environment, with a focus on fast-paced inventory control and supply chain management. Leadership experience across multiple locations is highly desirable.
  • At least 5 years in a senior management role, overseeing a Materials Team or warehouse operations within a high-volume, dynamic manufacturing setting. Your ability to manage complexity and drive results is key.
  • Deep expertise in MRP systems and inventory management is essential. Your knowledge will be critical in optimizing material flow and ensuring data integrity.
  • Strong management skills coupled with excellent verbal and written communication abilities. You will inspire and guide your team while effectively communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A keen problem-solver with strong analytical abilities and advanced computer skills. Your ability to analyze data and make informed decisions will drive continuous improvement.
  • A sense of urgency with a hands-on, proactive approach. You are not just a strategic thinker but also someone who can roll up their sleeves to get things done when needed.
