We are looking for an Applications Engineer who will be responsible for planning, designing and deployment of machinery and equipment working as a bridge between customers and the engineering team. We are looking for someone that is eager to continue their career in Engineering, that is detail-oriented, professional and an out-of-the-box thinker. It is crucial that our Applications Engineer promotes a positive company image through safety, quality, consistency, and professionalism.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create/design preliminary concepts for customer quoting purposes
  • Engage with the customer at a technical level to understand the customer's specific requirements
  • Liaison between third parties to ensure product claims are verified
  • Develop and execute presentations internally and to customers
  • Provide assistance in estimating labour and material cost for quoting purposes as well as design suggestions/concept layouts
  • Identify technical risks and their impact on the project to mitigate issues
  • Participate in concept reviews, design kick offs and manufacturing reviews
  • Travel to customer locations as required
  • Always conduct oneself in a professional manner in alignment with Company values, including but not limited to language use, attire, and workmanship
  • In accordance with company policy/ESA; overtime, work outside of regular hours, and being on call may be required at the discretion of the company
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mechanical Engineering degree/diploma or equivalent
  • Have or working towards Professional Engineering Certification (Peng)
  • Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with SolidWorks 3D and AutoCAD 2D
  • Knowledge of the food industry, food safety and/or sanitary design principles
  • Proven ability to function in a self-directed environment and work independently on various design projects
  • Able to solve complex technical problems and use critical thinking in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Able to maintain professionalism when dealing with clients in all interfaces
  • Able to communicate completed designs effectively using 2D/3D engineered drawings
  • Applied knowledge of Design for Manufacturing techniques
  • Working knowledge of automated equipment
  • Comprehensive understanding of metal fabricating equipment and processes
  • Applied knowledge of Continuous Improvement techniques
  • Able to work with a variety of personality types and resolve conflicts
