FutureSight is seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented and decisive finance operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in analyzing and preparing financial statements, investor reporting and forecasting for businesses. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional analytical skills. In addition, the candidate should possess strong communication abilities to guide and support our portfolio companies through their growth journeys.
FutureSight is a Venture Studio co-located in Toronto and San Francisco backing world-class founders in launching B2B SaaS and Vertical AI companies. We are investing out of our 2nd fund and are looking for someone to help support our Venture Creation and Investor Relations strategies and initiatives for FutureSight and our portfolio companies.
Reporting to the CFO, the candidate will manage and coordinate the Fund and Venture Studio's finance, operational, and administration functions.
This is a hybrid position based out of our downtown Toronto office.
Requirements
- Investor Reporting
- Assist with existing Limited Partner (LP) communications and the preparation of materials (e.g., quarterly reports, deal pitchbooks, meeting notices, presentation decks).
- Collaborate with the Venture Development team to provide portfolio company updates to LPs.
- Support various operational aspects during fundraising, including LP diligence requests, data room management, and deck preparation.
- Fund Finance and Compliance
- Track and issue relevant LP documents, including Drawdown Notices, Capital Calls, and Management Fees Calculations.
- Assist the CFO in ensuring compliance with Tax, Legal, and Regulatory requirements.
- Fund Operations and Administration
- Maintain organization of the Fund's client contracts and agreements.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation and record-keeping for all venture-related activities.
- Liaise with external parties, such as lawyers and accountants, on matters including Venture Incorporations, Shareholder Agreements, Venture Employment, Commercial Contracting, and Legal proceedings.
- Startup Finance for Portfolio Companies
- Monitor and communicate on each venture's financial status, including their survivability, fundability, and fundraising needs.
- Develop and maintain cap tables and financial forecasting for the ventures.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and conduct monthly financial meetings for each venture.
- Execute Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) for the ventures.
- Act as a compliance and governance board member for ventures.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of early-stage startup finance and accounting or similar experience
- Venture capital, startup or investment banking experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of financial statements and investor reporting
- Knowledge of the technology/startup space is a plus
- Self-motivated and driven with willingness to learn
- Ability to be decisive and urgently raise issues
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal)
- Detail-oriented with strong project management, organizational skills, and process management
- Outstanding judgment around confidential and/or sensitive information
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheet
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
