Valard Construction LP is currently seeking local experienced Groundperson in Toronto Ontario. Valard Construction LP is Canada's premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies AND part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy.
The position will be Monday to Thursday, 10 hours days. It is a unionized position so successful candidate will need to be approved by union before we can officially offer the position.
Requirements
Groundwork
Must have a minimum of a DZ license and be able to provide a clear driver's abstract (AZ is considered an asset)
Must live within daily driving distance to/from GTA
Minimum 2 years of Toronto Hydro utility work experience
Ability to work independently while following job requirements
Must have and maintain a clean driver's abstract
Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 75 pounds), working at heights, in confined spaces and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)
Values safe work practices and holds others accountable for working in a safe manner
Hard working, team-player attitude with attention to detail and above average customer service skills
Candidates must be available for on-call work and occasional evenings/weekends
Perform work in accordance with all organizational requirements, as well as provincial and federal health and safety standards and legislation, ensuring the highest standard of safety is upheld.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Grade 12 Education would be considered an asset
DZ License Mandatory
Experience working around heavy equipment would be considered an asset
Valid First Aid Certificate
Valid WHMIS Certificate
Working at Heights Certificate considered an asset
Confined Space Training considered an asset

Please note this job requires working long hours outside with concrete, dust, mud and water in adverse weather conditions
This is a GTA based position, out of our Concord office.
Must live in GTA or very close to Vaughan, ON.
