About the Role:

At GVM, we are committed to providing exceptional care for our residents. As the Assistant Director of Care - Direct Care, you will lead a team of dedicated healthcare professionals in delivering front-line, high-quality care. You will oversee the daily operations of the nursing team, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and continuously seek innovative ways to improve resident care. This is a key leadership role where you will step in for the Director of Care in their absence and play a pivotal part in our mission to enhance the lives of those in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee daily operations for the direct care nursing team
  • Investigate incidents related to resident safety and well-being, ensuring swift and accurate resolution
  • Review and update clinical procedures, checklists, and forms
  • Collaborate with leadership to plan and execute strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing care
  • Manage and evaluate the performance of Nurse Managers and Physician Liaison
  • Actively participate in staff development, recruitment, and performance reviews
  • Develop and deliver in-house and off-site training programs for nursing staff
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure quality care and compliance with best practices
  • Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and care delivery

Qualifications:

  • RN or LPN license in good standing with the College of Nurses of Nova Scotia
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in long-term care
  • Experience in management/supervision is highly desirable
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
