Community Champion & Connector
Community Champion & Connector (AI Startup Ecosystem)
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia (In-Person at Volta)
About Volta
Volta is on a mission to drastically improve the odds of success for AI-first software startups in Atlantic Canada. We believe the best companies scale not just because of product or capital-but because they're embedded in a trusted, connected community that meets their needs from Day 1 through scaling to global competitiveness.
Our structured, milestone-driven startup support model-Zero-2-X and 10X Growth-guides founders from early validation to their first $1M in revenue. But founders need more than programming. They need a strong local ecosystem-and that's where you come in.
About the Role
This is a founder-facing, data-informed, trust-building role for someone who thrives on connecting people, solving problems, and seeing the results in real time.
As Community Champion & Connector, you'll work with our Startup Success team, Events team, and ecosystem partners to ensure founders have what they need, when they need it, whether that's a warm intro, a peer group, a technical mentor, or just someone who listens with context.
You'll facilitate peer networks, host and support events that matter, track what's working (and what's not), and continually build bridges between founders and the broader AI ecosystem across Atlantic Canada.
This is not a generalist community manager role. It's a relationship-first, accountability-driven position with visibility, ownership, and impact.
What You'll Own
- Founder Connectivity and Navigation
- Be a trusted connector-someone founders call first when they need help or introductions
- Build and manage a concierge-style system for connecting founders to mentors, partners, and technical resources
- Collaborate across Volta (Startup Success, Events, Finance, Ops) to ensure frictionless founder experiences
- Help founders stay meaningfully connected even after residency ends
- Ecosystem Facilitation and Engagement
- Host and facilitate high-impact founder-focused events at Volta's community center and across Atlantic Canada
- Design and lead peer groups that drive trust, learning, and accountability
- Actively maintain relationships with mentors, university partners, support organizations, and alumni
- Surface resource gaps-and help fill them
- Data-Informed Experimentation
- Track founder engagement and resource usage in simple, actionable ways
- Design and run short-loop experiments (e.g. new peer formats, partner activations, onboarding tweaks)
- Maintain and share insights that inform Volta's broader startup support strategy
- Community Health & Founder Retention
- Help make Atlantic Canada feel like the best place to build an AI company-because of the people, support, and relationships here
- Use qualitative and quantitative feedback to improve how founders experience the ecosystem
- Play a key role in ensuring founders stay connected long after they scale
You Might Be a Fit if You:
- helped build, grow, or sustain a real founder or tech-focused community
- love connecting people, but also love tracking and making data driven decisions
- get energized by founder conversations, and skilled at building trust quickly
- worked in, around, or in service to AI/software startups
- curious by default-constantly learning new tools, ideas, and ways to improve
- know how to facilitate groups, host gatherings, and guide relationships
- use automation and AI tools to streamline your own workflow
- are more interested in outcomes than credit, and want to be part of something bigger than your own personal brand
- are a dedicated team player who can work collaboratively across a small but mighty organization
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time role with a salary of $80,000-90,000 CAD per year. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, generous paid time off (including vacation and personal days), and additional perks designed to support your well-being and work-life balance.
