It is an exciting time for RMHC Atlantic as we enter into a new facility and expand our services! To support this growth, we are seeking a Manager of People and Engagement to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in helping RMHC Atlantic consistently achieve the organization's mission, vision, values, and objectives through an engaged and healthy workforce of staff and volunteers.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager of People and Engagement will be a key member of the team, driving all aspects of the people strategy, including fostering a healthy, safe, inclusive, engaged and respectful workplace. The Manager of People and Engagement will also create and implement a Professional Development Plan to increase staff capacity and cultural competency.
This position is part-time, 3 days (24 hours) a week, with the potential of being full-time based on other expertise you may bring to the organization. Salary will be prorated based on actual hours worked.

Participates as a member of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee, working to coordinate, manage and measure safety programs including training, compliance and worker's compensation
Ability to analyze and address complex employee and policy issues and exercise sound and experienced judgment in providing advice and guidance, often in ambiguous situations
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Oversees all aspects of human resources management including recruitment and retention, orientation, performance, benefits and reward management, employee relations/engagement and exit interviews
Oversees training and development for the entire team, supporting employees as required
Develops and maintains HR policies and procedures, including health and safety as well as compliance training
Is an expert in legislative knowledge of all things HR; providing ongoing support, feedback, and guidance, in accordance with human resources legislation, to the leadership team
Oversees the total compensation program
Establishes processes to regularly solicit feedback from employees to improve the organization
Oversees a Human Resource information management system
OTHER
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional associations
Commitment to connecting with other people professionals to ensure ongoing knowledge of best practices and to benchmark the organization's performance
Experience with equity, diversity and inclusion programs in the workplace
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in human resources or equivalent education, CHRP is an asset
Minimum 3 years of Human Resources experience
Deep functional knowledge and broad experience in all areas of human resources policies, practices processes, and legislation
Understanding of organization structure for multi-location organizations
Working knowledge of provincial and federal employment/labour laws. This includes familiarity with statutory legislations such as ESA, Human Rights, AODA, OHSA, etc.
Experience in the Payworks System an asset
Meets deadlines and benchmarks while consistently displaying a high level of attention to detail
Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive situations with excellent judgment and discretion.
In accordance with our mandate of creating a caring and safe environment for ill children and their families, we require updated Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks, as well as a Child Abuse Register Search.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Atlantic houses families with seriously ill children. All staff must display care and compassion, and possess emotional maturity, discretion, and be capable of respecting the dignity and rights of guests, volunteers, and other staff members. Maintaining confidentiality is of the utmost importance.

THE ORGANIZATION
Ronald McDonald House Charities® Atlantic (RMHC Atlantic) helps families with sick children stay together and near the medical care they need. Our programs include Ronald McDonald House® in Halifax, a "home-away-rom-home" for out of town families with sick children, and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms® in Halifax and Moncton, an oasis of calm and support inside the hospital.
