ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY
Black & McDonald Limited is seeking an HVAC/R Service Technician at our location in Sydney, NS. The successful candidate will maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair various HVAC/R and gas equipment and systems within a portfolio of buildings to achieve optimum life span of the equipment.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC/R and gas equipment in accordance with manufacturer and company specifications.
- Complete digital work orders, detailed reports and daily digital time summaries.
- Ensure safe working conditions are enforced and strictly adhered to in accordance with company policy.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years' experience in an HVAC/R service and maintenance position for commercial sites.
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Red Seal Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Certification.
- Gas B (G2) Certification.
- Commercial Refrigeration experience.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Secret Security Clearance, as well as other site-specific clearances.
- Experience using mobile technologies considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to read and work from HVAC, mechanical schematics, electrical schematics, line drawings, etc.
- Knowledge in a variety of electronic, pneumatic, and DDC control systems considered an asset.
- Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to meet deadlines.
