Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Primary responsibilities associated with the role of Financial Accountant include (but are not limited to):
- Completing all tasks related to the daily maintenance of the company bank accounts, including verifying incoming and outgoing payments, setting up inter-account transfers, Mastercard/Visa payments, and wire payments for approval, and preparing and making regular bank deposits
- Recording cash sales as required
- Generating Fisher accounts receivable cheques as well as payments on loan agreements as required
- Maintaining company petty cash, including reconciliation and recording relevant entries in SAP
- Reconciling customer and intercompany accounts as required, and completing relevant entries in SAP
- Completing all regular bank reconciliation procedures
- Assisting the Director of Finance with maintaining the company's portfolio credit insurance policy, as well as company insurance policies held with Atradius
- Reviewing payroll source deductions for further approval and payment
- Recording payroll deduction payments on Fisher accounts receivable and loan accounts as required
- Charging out insurance and other payments to Fishers as required
- Preparing company HST returns for approval, and submitting to Canada Revenue Agency upon such approval
- Preparing company HAPSET returns for approval, and submitting to the Government of NL upon such approval
- Creating and maintaining all working papers related to the monthly accounting cycle
- Completing all tasks related to the monthly accounting cycle, including (but not limited to) the completion of monthly accrual entries, prepaid expense entries, long term loan entries, vessel revenue entries, adjusting journal entries, and all miscellaneous entries in SAP as required
- Assisting the Director of Finance with all duties related to the annual external audit of the company
- Other duties as may arise from time to time and as assigned by the Director of Finance or the senior management team of the company.
- Ensuring compliance with regulator accounts such as HAPSET, WHSCC and HST
- Assisting the Accounts Payable team with processing of invoices, from time-to-time, including the coding of invoices and processing in the workflow system.
- Assisting the Accounts Payable team with the reconciliation of vendor accounts.
- Completion of a weekly Accounts Payable run in SAP, in coordination with the Accounts Payable Team.
We are seeking an outgoing individual with previous experience in a similar role. Completion of a post-secondary accounting diploma, combined with general bookkeeping experience, or a new graduate of the Business Commerce Co-Op Degree program with interest in pursuing a CPA designation will be considered. Experience working within SAP is an asset, as well as other financial accounting software programs. You are self-driven, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and are a true team player who is willing to help with all office tasks.
