Bilijk is looking to hire a certified and motivated individual in the housing department for day-to-day coordination and supervision of construction projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
  • Carry out or oversee repairs and maintenance in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with the Maintenance and Repair Schedule
  • Perform carpentry tasks such as framing, installing doors, windows, cabinets, and building structures
  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, drywall, and other materials
  • Work with various hand tools, power tools, and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Manage inventory of materials and equipment needed for each project
  • The ability to maintain professionalism in high stress situations
  • Assigning and coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Red Seal Certification
  • Proven experience as a Lead Carpenter or similar role in the construction industry
  • Extensive knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, materials, and safety procedures
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team
  • Maintain effective relationships with contractors and occupants
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, organization skills, time management
  • Strong understanding in First Nations culture will also be considered an asset
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Current Criminal Record Check
