Job Summary
The Professional Conduct Consultant is a member of the Professional Conduct Services (PCS) team. They are held to a high level of professionalism and must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality throughout the investigation process. The incumbent will understand the fundamentals of administrative law and will apply this understanding in investigations, preparation of comprehensive investigation reports, drafting agreements and resolutions, and as a resource to regulatory committees. The Professional Conduct Consultant will actively contribute to the PCS team in meeting the NSCN vision, mission, values and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate complaints, including conducting intake, taking accurate witness statements, analyzing and summarizing key documents and witness statements, and compiling evidence from multiple sources
- Draft agreements, correspondence and decisions
- Facilitate open dialogue with complainants, registrants and other stakeholders in the professional conduct process
- Brief the PCS and Leadership team on emerging issues or trends noted during the investigation process
- Display exceptional professionalism throughout the professional conduct process
- Participate in and contribute to, regular PCS team meetings and strategic objectives
Skill Requirements:
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality while working with time-sensitive documents and reports
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience managing a high workload in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Able to work independently with little supervision
Education & Experience:
The following are the desired assets:
- Nursing degree, eligible to register with Nova Scotia College of Nursing
- Law degree, eligible to register with Nova Scotia Barrister's Society (NSBS)
- 2 or more years legal and/or regulation experience
