Food Service Helper
Job Title: FOOD SERVICE WORKER
Department: Dietary
Responsible To: Director of Dietary Services
Purpose: To deliver quality food services to the residents of the Home.
To assist residents during meal service time.
To perform timely and accurate meal delivery, in a quiet and relaxing
atmosphere.
Duties and
Responsibilities: Prepare breakfast, staff lunches and sandwiches daily.
Maintain a working knowledge of policies, procedures and standards of the
Home and seek clarification when needed.
Must be familiar with departmental policies and procedures manual, WHMIS
and EMO.
Attend annual in-services with WHMIS, fire safety, re-certify food handlers
certification and first aid/CPR, as required.
Prepare, deliver and serve food in the proper portion size and
temperature.
Follow proper reporting procedures for accidents and incidents to ensure
follow-up and prevention.
Report to maintenance and equipment needing repairs.
Clean and sanitize equipment, dishes, servicing areas/workstations.
Participate in dietary staff meetings.
Assist in receiving, checking and putting away orders that come into the
kitchen.
Perform additional duties as directed by the Director of Dietary Services.
Equipment Used: Dishwasher, Food Carts, Vegetable Peeler, Knives, Microwave Oven, Mop,
Broom, stove, Steamer, Ovens, Mixers, Food trucks, Toaster and Tray Trolleys.
Working Conditions:
Kitchen working environment.
Interacts with residents, family members, staff and visitors.
Overtime as required.
Flexibility is required related to work routines, schedules and frequent.

Arrive at work at the scheduled time.
Adhere to established schedule for meal and rest periods.
Adhere to established dress code.
Adhere to personnel policies.
Know and implement the mission statement and values of the home
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required
Current Food Handler's Certification
Demonstrated knowledge of laws, regulations and guidelines governing the
Food Service industry
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Previous experience in healthcare food service preferred.
Must be able to lift, push, pull and move food, equipment, supplies up to 50 lbs.
Working Hours: Subject to rotation and change, holidays and weekends.
