Job Purpose: The Assistant Life Support Technician is there to support the Life Support Technician and Life Support Supervisor. They will assist with the all aspects of hygiene/ chamber environment and gain experience with chamber depth control and gas management where possible whilst there are divers in saturation.

Reporting lines and interactions:

Hierarchically reports to: Offshore People Manager

Operationally reports to: Life Support Technician and Life Support Supervisor

Directly supervises: Mentors Tenders and Assistants who are new to the vessel

Key interactions (internally, externally): OMT, Deck Crew, Galley Staff, Training and Competence Department, Diving Regional Manager

Job Scope (budget, management, specific criteria):

Management

  • Assisting with all relevant aspects of the dive system including, Sat control panels, Hyperbaric Lifeboat launch evacuation, dive system operational and emergency procedures
  • Liaising with the Life Support technician and Life Support Supervisor, as to the readiness of the divers personal and diving equipment
  • Ensuring all shift handovers are carried out clearly and concisely, ensuring relevant information is logged within the handover log
  • Ensuring all operational or system changes are managed in accordance with company MOC process

Safety

  • Dive system emergency training and familiarisation is carried out in accordance with company guidelines
  • Dive system firefighting equipment operational awareness and all relevant personnel are fully familiarised
  • All pressure related injuries/ incidents are dealt with in accordance of the company manuals, with any additional local legislative requirements reported appropriately
  • All equipment entering the chamber complex has been checked for compatibility and fit for purpose and relayed to Life Support Technician/ Life Support Supervisor

Operations

  • Assisting with Maintaining system storage and any changes affecting the integrity of the dive system
  • Planning and ongoing management of readiness of dive equipment
  • Assisting with all system checks and operations
  • All saturation procedures are carried out in accordance with the company manuals
  • Assist in planning and ongoing management of quantities of gases and consumables to meet operational and minimum levels
  • Ensure company hygiene procedures for chamber internal and external are followed and logged appropriately
  • Ensure all divers personal and diving equipment is laundered in accordance with company guidelines
  • Appropriate levels of hygiene are applied whilst preparing divers food including Bell Lunches

Technical / Systems

  • Reporting of any incidents involving equipment malfunction or failure
  • Equipment failures/ issues are captured within the system defects log and reported accordingly
  • Ensure all documentation in use is relevant and traceable within the BMS/FMS or exerts from vendor operational manuals

People

  • Ongoing personnel mentoring, feedback and assistance with competency portfolios
  • Continued logging of all relevant details within their personnel log book
  • Familiar with the Company's Key Human Resources Policies and Procedures

Qualifications (professional, technical, academic):

Essential:

Industry Certification (IMCA)

  • IMCA recognised Assistant LST training course
  • Meets the minimum IMCA requirements for experience and competency

Company Required Certification

  • Valid Offshore Survival and Medical certificate
  • Food handling and Hygiene course

Typical background and experience required:

Essential:

Practical Knowledge

  • Industry and local legislation / guidance ensuring compliance
  • TechnipFMC Group Values and Dive Management Manuals demonstrable in daily activities
  • Company BMS/FMS, SMS and vessels ISSOW

Preferred:

  • Experience with PLC based Hyperbaric Monitoring & Control System (HMCS)
