Designed to meet the needs of multiple events, Nova Scotia's Halifax Convention Centre offers over 120,000 square feet of flexible event space in the heart of downtown. The Halifax Convention Centre is part of the Nova Centre, a million-square-foot, mixed-use development that includes a hotel, office towers, and retail space. It is the largest integrated development project in the province's history.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Strategy & Business Development, the Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for overseeing the organization's marketing and communications team and the delivery of comprehensive marketing and communications programs for Events East, the Halifax Convention Centre and Scotiabank Centre.
This role is inclusive of the strategic management of all communications and marketing strategies, internal and external communications, issues management, brand management, media relations and marketing promotions. The Director of Marketing & Communications plays a key role in developing and executing strategies that enhance the organization's corporate reputation and the brand presence of Scotiabank Centre and the Halifax Convention Centre.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Team Development & Leadership: Lead and mentor a marketing team, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Provide regular performance feedback, set clear goals, and support team members in their professional growth.
- Strategic Brand & Marketing Management: Develop and execute marketing strategies for both venues, aiming to increase visibility, engagement, and ticket sales. Oversee digital, social, and traditional marketing channels, ensuring campaigns align with organizational goals and enhance brand reputation.
- Corporate Communications: Direct all aspects of corporate communications, including internal messaging, media relations, and issues management. Serve as the organization's spokesperson and provide strategic counsel to the CEO on public relations matters.
- Event Marketing & Promotions: Implement targeted marketing and promotion strategies for events, working to drive ticket sales and foster engagement with community members, promoters, and event organizers.
- Community and Partner Engagement: Establish partnerships to strengthen the organization's profile and community ties. Oversee community relations initiatives, enhancing brand alignment with local interests.
- Project Management: Manage budgets, timelines, and performance metrics across multiple campaigns, adapting strategies to meet dynamic organizational needs. Ensure all marketing initiatives meet high standards of quality and effectiveness.
As the ideal candidate you have post-secondary education in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, combined with a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or brand management. A proven leader of people, the Director of Marketing & Communications inspires and empowers their team, creating an environment of trust and collaboration while guiding their team toward shared success. Experience implementing successful marketing and communications strategies and campaigns, including measurement and performance monitoring is a must. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the marketing communications environment across all digital and traditional channels and ability to adapt strategies accordingly. Flexibility is required based on the demands of the events industry.
