Grand View Manor is a not for profit home known to support our community through our commitment to quality care and innovative support for both clients and our interdisciplinary team. In our 142 bed facility, care is provided in an enriched housing, an assisted living, and a nursing home setting. We are committed to providing holistic care to the residents we serve.
Located in Berwick, Apple Capital of the Annapolis Valley, we are one hour from Halifax and minutes away from the highest tides in the world. Work with us as we plan for our new state of the art facility scheduled to open in 2026.

Position Summary
The rehabilitation assistant works under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist. The rehabilitation assistant (RA) is responsible for implementing interventions formulated from the assessments conducted by PT/OT. In addition, the RA supports the staff of Grand View Manor with educational opportunities that will support staff safety and enhance the quality of life of the residents.
Responsible for:
Facilitate referrals for OT/PT services
Provide full OT/PT support
Implement intervention plans and programs under the supervision of OT/PT
Attendance and participation in team meetings and events
Active involvement in the Safe Handling & Mobility committee
Monitor residents' status and provide accurate reports to OT/PT
Conduct and maintain accurate inventory documentation and statistical data related to departmental programs/equipment/resources
Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and continuing education as needed
Ensuring inventory, stock and office supplies are available for the Therapeutic Support Department
Provide training and support for OT/PT approved programs related to mobility, exercise and safety of residents and staff
Conduct routine inspections for mobility equipment addressing any malfunctions that are noted.
Skills Required
Have the welfare of residents as the core motivator for service delivery
Are experienced in dealing with individuals with physical and/or mental health diagnosis
Ability to support Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist with staff training and other related departmental needs
Strong computer skills or is willing to learn
Ability to consult with supervisors and/or manager regarding workplace issues and/or challenges involving residents and/or staff, as it relates to safety, professionalism and job roles
Have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families and staff
Has the ability to provide leadership support for residents and/or staff related to safety, mobilization and education Effective organizational and time management skills to maintain and support departmental caseload
Has the ability to work independently
Data collection and research experience would be an asset
Education and Qualifications
Graduate of a recognized Rehabilitative Assistant (PTA/OTA) Program or have a Bachelor Degree in Kinesiology
Able to demonstrate proof of continuing education in your field of study if you have not been practicing for a duration.
Must have standard First Aid and CPR
